Played a Very Important Game Today!

Arsenal vs Aztecs
My teammates and I played a great game today. We are currently second place in our leauge, the only reason is because we had to skip two games cause our teammates were sick that week. We have only played 6 games and we are 5-1 and the other team has played 8 games, we had to win this game to catch up and we did! Our loss was to them but today we brought it back around, first couple minutes of the half we scored making it 1-0. They came right back 3-5 minutes after and scored making it 1-1. The second half was a fight to the death, and in the last couple minutes of the game we scored. It was 2-1 so we decided to keep possesion, more than we usually would. It ended, bringing us 3 points higher, and them 0!!

How To Be a Decent Defender

Do Not Dive In
As a defender, you have to know when to go for the ball and when to contain. Many times playing good defense is not always taking the ball away, it's making the player playing backwards. Force the attacker to the outside, so that he can't get down the middle.
Communicate
Because you can see the field, talk to your players, and tell them if they have a man on or if they have time etc, so they don't make as many mistakes as possible. You can also tell your teammates on who to mark, and telling them to drop back for help occasionally. Defense is all about being in the right spot at the right time and making good decisions, you can't do that without proper communication.
Marking
Stay on your mark, and don't let him carry the ball, if he gets the ball make him pass backwards. Mark the person who your goalie tells you to, if your goalie doesn't tell you to mark anyone, then mark the nearest person.
Stance
If you are on your toes and you are shuffling your feet, your opponent is going to find it hard to get past you if you are concentrating. Be in a position so that if he makes a bad touch, you can jump right in, and take the ball away.
Passing
Passing is a crucial part of defending, you have to be able to keep the ball under pressure and be able to take the ball away from your opponent. If you are under pressure in your third of the field, then you can either kick it out or play it back to your keeper. If you play it back to your keeper, you must open up wide for him so that you can advance the ball up the field from the back. This is a very good strategy to use and if your midfielders open up wide to the side lines, you can be able to play it up to your forwards or down the middle, towards their goal.

Developing Good Dribbling Skills

Using All of The Surfaces of Your Foot
In becoming a good dribbler of the ball, you must make sure that you are adept at using the inside and outside of both feet. This allows you to cut the ball away from pressure and keep control of the ball no matter where defensive pressure comes from.
Touch the Ball With Each Step You Take
In very quick succession, touch the ball a little bit ahead of you when you dribble. This not only increases your dribbling speed, but it also increases your ball control. Since the ball is always so close to your feet, you can always cut the ball away from the defender when they reach in for it. When you first start this practice, go slowly and try to get as many touches as you can.
Improve the Weaker Foot
if you work on your weaker foot more often, it will become stronger, the more you use it, the stronger it will get. Simple tasks like shooting at the park with your left foot/right can make it become more usable in matches or practices, if you didn't feel comfortable using it. You can also pass the ball, or hit the ball against the wall, and use your weaker foot to get it stronger.

Different Types of Passing

Passing To a Player
Passing the ball directly to the persons feet is a good thing when under pressure, to get out of pressure. If you have mastered this, you can try to get the ball to the foot the person is stronger with, this will help you and your teammates out a lot. If your teammate is being marked, you want to pass it to his foot that the defender is on the other side of. When you are being tightly marked you can either throw a fake in, or you can check in to the ball to receive it quicker.http://www.gadgetsnews.co.uk/images/Fifa_09_Wii_all_play.jpg
Passing into Space
This type of ball is frequently used when the pace of the game is at high. While your teammate passes the ball into space, you run onto it, eventually receiving the ball. Timing and accuracy are crucial to this pass, the player passing must notice how fast his teammate is going and play the ball in front of him at the correct speed.http://www.soccermentor.com/files/images/2006WC_FranceWallPass1.jpg
The Wall Pass
The one-two pass or wall pass are combinations where one of the attacking players passes to a teammate who runs into the space, where the ball is played. The player receiving the ball one touches it out into space while the player who passed it to him, runs around the opposing player, into space.http://www.soccermentor.com/files/images/2006WC_FranceWallPass3.jpg
Through Ball
Also known as tunnel passing, it will surely bring havoc (or at least some disorganization) to the defense by taking some of them out of play. Through balls are usually executed without a preparation touch and require good timing. Ball movement in general leads to the opening of passing lanes. When passing it, you want it to go between two players, spliting them up, and have your teammate run onto the ball. This pass is very good for quick break aways and can create many opportunities.

The Chip Pass
This pass is a little more difficult, but can be really helpful. What you need to do is learn how to chip the ball, what you do is mostly getting your foot under the ball. The ball will fly over the opponents and your teammate can run onto the ball towards the goal. The only difficult part, is hitting the ball at the exact power, so that your teammate can get to the ball before their keeper can.

Learning How to Pass The Ball

If you want to perform well as a soccer player, then you must learn how to pass the ball. You can't wake up one morning and just have the ability to pass the ball well, you have to go out and practice your passing with someone else. Even though the professional soccer players out there on the field make it look like a piece of cake, it really isn't easy. The key to good passing is playing it simple, this means that you need to play it to the nearest player and things will be easier for your whole team, unless you have a better option.
The thing that is hardest for me to do, is to keep calm, you always need to stay calm, even under pressure so that you can think and play the ball simple. Other things you can do is, when your team has possession, everyone should spread out, so you have more room to work with. Also it is harder for the other team if your team is spread out because 9 out of 11 players have to mark their man, which leaves more room to get down the middle and score. The 2 players that I am talking about, are the keeper and the sweeper, the sweeper usually stays in the back, and plays deeper than everyone else, just in case some one gets passed the defense, he will step in and win the tackle.
